This hands-on workshop is designed for cookie decorators who want to refine their royal icing skills with intention and precision. We’ll focus on icing preparation, consistency control, transfers, and application techniques that elevate your decorating workflow.
Where: Bebe's Bake Shop – Wando, SC
When: Saturday, March 21st
Time: 12:00PM - 3:00PM (approximately 3 hours)
(Please note: The first half of class will be standing room only for icing preparation and demonstrations. The second half will be seated for decorating and practice.)
Session Overview
• Live demonstration of my royal icing process from start to finish
• Breakdown of icing consistencies: stiff, detail, flood, and hybrid
• Hands-on practice thinning icing to proper consistency
• Coloring icing to achieve clean, intentional palettes
• Proper piping bag filling and preparation
• Guided practice using each consistency with multiple techniquesEach student will receive a batch of freshly made icing to work with throughout class.
Techniques & Skills Covered
• Icing Transfer Letters – Create names and numbers without a projector
• Simple Piping-Tip Florals – Clean, versatile floral designs
• DIY Sprinkle Mixes – Build custom blends for future projects
• Stenciled Shapes – Achieve sharp, consistent patterns
Additional techniques include:
• Using a dehydrator to quickly dry icing transfers
• Dipping cookies for smooth base layers
• Creating effortless marble effects
Practice Makes Permanent
This class emphasizes repetition and refinement. You’ll have multiple cookies to practice on using the icing you prepare, allowing you to build muscle memory and confidence.
